Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 24, 2026

1. Introduction

DepthLoop ("we", "us", or "our") operates the DepthLoop app available through the Canva Apps Marketplace ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it when you use the App inside the Canva editor. Because all video rendering happens locally in your browser, we collect very little personal data.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Identity Information

We do not ask you to create a separate DepthLoop account. The Canva platform may provide a Canva User ID to the App as part of the standard Apps SDK context; however, because there is no credit system or server-side user record to maintain, we do not store this identifier.

We do not receive your Canva email address, name, profile picture, or any other personal profile information.

2.2 Photos and Creative Content

Photos you upload while using the App are held in your browser's memory only during the editing session. They are never transmitted to our servers.

All video rendering is performed entirely within your browser using a WebAssembly-based encoder. Once rendering is complete, the finished MP4 is uploaded to DepthLoop's temporary storage as an intermediate step required for delivery to Canva. Canva's API cannot accept a video directly from browser memory — it must fetch the file from a publicly accessible URL. The temporary file is automatically deleted after Canva retrieves it. DepthLoop does not retain, analyze, or share the exported video beyond this brief transit.

2.3 Technical Data

Our servers may automatically log standard technical information, including IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps, for security monitoring and operational purposes. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not used for advertising or profiling.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

Purpose Legal Basis
Preventing fraud and abuse Legitimate interests
Security monitoring and incident response Legitimate interests
Improving the App's performance and reliability Legitimate interests

We do not use your information to serve advertising, build profiles, or sell data to third parties.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

4.1 Infrastructure Providers

We use the following sub-processors to operate the App:

Provider Purpose Location
Canva Pty Ltd App platform and user identity Australia
Cloudflare, Inc. Edge computing, cloud storage (R2), and database (D1) United States / Global Edge

Each provider is bound by its own data processing agreements and privacy commitments.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.

4.3 Business Transfers

If DepthLoop is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

5. Data Retention

Data Type Retention Period
Source photos Never stored — held in browser memory only during the session
Rendered MP4 video Stored in temporary storage only until Canva retrieves it (typically seconds), then automatically deleted
Server access logs Retained for up to 30 days

6. Cookies and Local Storage

The App itself does not set cookies. However, it may use browser memory (JavaScript object URLs and data URLs) to hold your uploaded photos during an editing session. This data is cleared automatically when you close or refresh the Canva tab.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Role-based access controls for internal systems

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your data to the best of our ability.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your data
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to certain processing activities

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Because we do not collect your email address from Canva, please include your Canva User ID or a description of how you use the App so we can locate your records.

The App may display links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you through the App or through the Canva Apps Marketplace listing. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
